Environmental Policies and Practices
Natural resources and the environment are important factors for the ecosystem of this planet. Without proper maintenance, such resources may be depleted and result in environmental problems. The Company therefore focuses on participating in reducing the impact on nature and the environment by adhering to the principles of sustainable development, the SDGs of the United Nations, to create shared values in terms of business, society, and the environment. Therefore, in response to the mission of the organization to conduct business with social and environmental responsibility, we have set up environmental management goals that cover four important areas, namely Energy Management, Water Management, Waste and Pollution Management, and Greenhouse Gas Management. We have also stipulated environmental management as one of the key issues in our Environmental, Social and Governance Policy to make the activities of the company contribute to sustainable growth and reduce environmental impact.
Environmental Performance
The surgical hospital business has a relatively high electricity consumption rate since it has to supply power to the medical devices and equipment within the hospital at all times. The Company. therefore, pays attention to the management of energy use for the most efficient and cost-effective use. In 2022, we will make all employees and executives be aware of energy conservation by focusing on the most cost-effective use of electricity and being able to maintain operational efficiency. We have begun to provide a simple approach for all personnel to implement as follows:
- Encouraging all employees to participate in saving electricity by turning off the lights or by refraining from using unnecessary electricity
- Determining the opening and closing time of the air conditioner in the part that does not need to be turned on all the time
- Select an air conditioner that is suitable for the size of the room and the building. and choose a high-efficiency air conditioner with an Electricity Saving Label No. 5
- Close doors, windows and curtains to prevent heat from outside
- Close the door and window completely so that the cold does not leak
- Selection of lamps with wattage suitable for use in rooms and buildings.
- Maintenance of electrical appliances to be in good condition all the time
- Promote knowledge on energy conservation for employees and all visitors to the hospital through various signs inside the Company building
The Company has encouraged all personnel to know the value of using water for maximum benefit by promoting both knowledge and practical guidelines for using water to create value. We also let our employees and executives in the Company be aware of the water shortage, including by providing guidelines and examples of the most beneficial use of water. Accordingly, in 2022, the Company has initiated guidelines for using water within the organization as follows.
- We have installed a Wastewater Treatment System to reduce the discharge of wastewater into the external environment that can treat 18,000,000 liters of wastewater per year.
- We have a campaign for all employees and executives to turn off the water when not in use and use it when necessary.
- We have continuously inspected the water supply system and the water treatment system of the Company.
- We have promoted knowledge of water usage for maximum benefit to personnel and clients who come to use the service in the hospital through various signs in the building.
- We always check the water quality within the company by checking the water quality every 4 months.
The Company has a system for the systematic disposal of waste, garbage, and expired medicines or medical supplies. Waste is segregated into categories along with creating awareness and participation of employees by symbols used for showing different 4 types of waste, including; 1) General waste, 2) Recycling waste, 3) Infectious waste and 4) Medicines and Medical Supplies which are classified as Narcotic Drugs (Schedule 1) under the notification of the Ministry of Public Health. The waste classified as type 1 and type 2 will be collected by our personnel before being discarded, and then a garbage truck from Bangkok will come to pick it up and destroy or recycle it. As for the type 3 and type 4 waste, we will hire other private companies with expertise to pick up and destroy them. Both types of waste (Type 3 and Type 4) have different methods of collection and storage prior to disposal to reduce the potential impact on the environment from polluted waste.
Climate change is a crisis that is affecting every country around the world. Such crises are the result of natural and human actions that affect the environment and people's livelihoods such as droughts, floods, as well as having a continuous impact on the agricultural sector, food chain, well-being of the people, nutritional status, outbreak that all of which are a consequence of climate change. The Company attaches great importance to management to reduce greenhouse gas problems, which are caused by the use of electricity from the air conditioner in the office. Therefore, there are measures to maintain air conditioners and request cooperation from all employees to reduce the use of unnecessary electricity in order to meet the Company's energy reduction target. Besides, in 2022, we are in the process of preparing a greenhouse gas report and hiring a reviewer to measure the amount of the Company's greenhouse gas emissions.
